Hangzhou Moves to Build Itself into A MICE Destination City with the Slogan ¡°Successful Conference in Hangzhou¡±

 

Hangzhou has successfully fostered an image of destination city for conferences over the passing years, establishing China¡¯s first association exclusive for businesses regarding MICE and also building a nationally leading meetings & incentives website. Mr. Wang Xinzhang, Deputy Director of Hangzhou Tourism Bureau, has won himself the Award for People of the Year 2012 in China¡¯s Meetings Industry through his exceptional contributions to the eye-drawing development of Hangzhou¡¯s tourism at the CMIC 2012. As one of strategic partners with the CMIC Committee, Hangzhou Tourism Bureau, in cooperation with other 11 organizations like China Convention and Exhibition Society (CCES), Nanjing Conference and Exhibition Industry Office, China Green Foundation, China National Convention Center (CNCC), AcrossChina Communication, MeetingsChina Magazine and so on, initiated a joint initiative on China Green Conference Manifesto, China Green Conference Guideline, and CMIC 2013 Alashan Green Action, with a view to promoting green conferences¡¯ advancement. Still, Hangzhou Tourism Bureau was one of hosts for the evening banquet.

 

At the Convention Cities Forum, leaders of Hangzhou Tourism Bureau shared with attendees their experience on the shift of conventional tourism marketing to MICE tourism marketing, with knowledge gained in shaping Hangzhou as basis. Over the years, Hangzhou has been attaching importance to the development of the conference market, with vigorous support provided for large-scale and significant meetings to land there. By initiating the foundation of China Meetings and Incentives Cities Alliance and formulating plans for conference buyers, Hangzhou has laid a solid foundation for the landing of meetings. During the convention, bearing the hope of strengthening relations with the meeting industry and consolidating matchmaking with China-based headquarters of national even international associations/societies, Hangzhou Tourism Bureau held a sodality targeting people responsible for national associations/societies. Ad during which time, distinguished figures like Wang Xinzhang, Deputy Director of Hangzhou Tourism Bureau, Chen Bin, Director of Tourism Image Promotion Center, representatives from Xiaoshang Tourism Bureau and Thousand-Island Lake Tourism Commission, Chun¡¯an Town, relevant enterprise delegates, plus ambassadors for Hangzhou conferences, were present. All these people had benefited a lot through fruitful negotiations with more than 80 conference buyers.


In addition, Hangzhou was conferred the Award for Most Popular Conference Destination Cities 2012 because of its leading development of MICE and excellent image. Meanwhile, the International Rooftops Landscaping Association 2012, recommended by Hangzhou Tourism Commission, won the Award for Best Green Conference Organizations 2012.
